My artwork for the past 15 years has ranged from poetry and prose to sculpture and metalsmithing. It is only recently that I have discovered a deep love and propensity for combining metalsmithing and fine art to create the ‘Fractal’ collection.
Every step towards this collection has allowed for a culmination of multiple art forms to transcend the pragmatic, typical structure of following one branch of art to create something new- a new technique and practice that has spread like the silver fractals dancing across my copper canvas.

Drawing inspiration from the styles of modern art and ancient Chinese ink wash paintings, the ‘Fractal’ collection exudes characteristics from both. Like a love child between Pollock, Sesshu Toyo, and Rorschach, these works combine the chaotic, the calculated, and the deeply psychological. The ‘Fractal’ collection is specifically designed to garner your attention and redirect the trickles of thought littering the mind into a steady stream of subconscious tranquility. This collection was derived with the intention of creating a space to let your mind wander in a hypnagogic state- an intentional, suspended daydream- and deeply rooted in psychology to allow for maximum success.
Each composition is completely subjective to that of the viewer and can change and morph into deeply recessed memories, aspirations, or moments of peace, depending on the imagination of the transfixed mind.
For it is only when we are able to quiet the mind that we can solve the endless puzzle of our waking lives. Much like the process of their creation, the ‘Fractal’ collection eclipses the ceaseless chatter of the world and leads one to a deeper level of peace- a level beyond one’s own perception, a level where dreams can fester. Consequently, I eagerly anticipate the beauty and bravery of this collection as an inspiration for future works.
